During the Festival dei Due Mondi, students and parents from Beroide School worked side by side with Echo Labs artisans to design an outdoor classroom and build the first pieces of furniture.
The school has just completed post-earthquake renovations and will reopen with an exciting new addition: thanks to the creativity of teachers, children, and carpenters—and through the use of repurposed materials—the children will have access to a brand-new, almost magical space. It features child-sized stools and two tables, one of which was built around a tree, as if they had grown up together and never let go.
The tables and benches created offer students an ideal space for studying, playing, and enjoying snacks outdoors, and they demonstrate how a community can come together to achieve positive results, care for the environment and shared spaces, and bring important educational messages to children.
This initiative deeply moved us, and it was a great honor to have the opportunity to contribute our commitment and share such a long-awaited moment with the Spoleto community.
