Let’s build new community spaces together

A new format dedicated to the regeneration of public space through creative reuse has been launched: a participatory process that takes shape with the creation of two urban tables made from reclaimed wood, designed to remain in the neighborhoods and become everyday hubs for meeting, collaboration, and active citizenship.
The initiative is born from a collaboration between AMKA, SonoFrankie, and Echo Labs: three organizations with different skills and a shared purpose: transforming reclaimed materials into concrete tools for connection, education, and care of public space.

The project involves the creation of the first two urban tables in Rome: the first at Piazza Copernico, in the Pigneto neighborhood, as part of the Open House Roma 2026 program; the second at Parco delle Stelle, in the San Lorenzo neighborhood, within the Tierra festival program. Both tables will be built through a participatory workshop involving associations, citizens, and institutions.
More than simple public furniture, the tables become urban devices designed to encourage collective use of space, host educational and recreational activities, support local networks, and strengthen communities' sense of belonging.
The initiative represents a replicable and scalable pilot model, capable of combining material recovery, social inclusion, community activation, and neighborhood regeneration. A practical approach that reflects the goals of the 2030 Agenda and makes visible a shared commitment to sustainability, participation, and collective responsibility.

You too can join us!

Both workshops are open to everyone: citizens, associations, students, families, local organizations, volunteers, and anyone who wants to take an active part in caring for public spaces.

Join us and help build new community spaces in Rome.
